The British Council exam venue in Kuala Lumpur
The British Council Malaysia exam timetables page names its Kuala Lumpur venue. It is Dewan Tun Hamdan Sheikh Tahir, Level 2, Wisma Sejarah, 230 Jalan Tun Razak, 50400 Kuala Lumpur. The same page says Cambridge papers start at 9.00 for morning sessions and 13.00 for afternoon sessions. Your candidate notice confirms the venue and times for your own entry.
Once your candidate notice arrives, your student can visit the area in advance and work out the route from home. They can also practise a full paper at the exam start time, so the first morning feels familiar. The notice confirms the venue, the date and the reporting time for your own entry.
Registering as a private candidate
The British Council private candidates page explains that candidates register through its School Registration System with a valid passport or national ID. A parent or guardian must complete the registration for anyone under 18. An application is not processed until payment is received, and the exact fees for every exam are shown in that system.
The same page notes that each awarding body has its own deadlines. Late registration may carry a penalty fee, and changes and cancellations are handled through the British Council. Registration windows close months before each series. We suggest deciding the board and session at the start of Year 10 or Year 11, rather than the term before.
Choosing the right board and session
Accounting is offered under Cambridge 0452 and 0985, Pearson Edexcel 4AC1 and OxfordAQA 9215. The best choice depends on what your student's school or centre can enter. Confirm that with the British Council or your school before you start revising for a specific paper style. We teach all four, and our exam boards pages explain how they differ.
A student in Year 10 who plans to sit in the May/June series of Year 11 has roughly eighteen months. That is enough time to cover the syllabus once, revisit weaker topics, and spend the last term on timed past papers. A private candidate taking the October/November series has a shorter run, which makes a diagnostic first lesson especially valuable.
Cambridge series for a private candidate
Cambridge runs Accounting 0452 and 0985 in the June and November series. The March series is for schools in India, so it does not apply to a Kuala Lumpur candidate.
A student cannot be entered for 0452 and 0985 in the same series. The 2026 syllabus covers exams in 2026, and the 2027 to 2029 syllabus is used from 2027, which our Cambridge 0452 and Cambridge 0985 pages set out.
OxfordAQA 9215 is available in the May/June and November series, so the series you pick for Cambridge and for OxfordAQA can differ.
A Kuala Lumpur school that lists Accounting
Sri Dasmesh International Secondary School in Kuala Lumpur lists Accounting among its Key Stage 4 core subjects on its website (checked on 12 October 2026). The page does not name the exam board. Families should confirm the board with the school before choosing a syllabus.
How our lessons fit a Kuala Lumpur student
Because lessons happen online, a student in Bangsar, Cheras, Mont Kiara or Setapak keeps the same schedule and the same teacher. We timetable around school hours and co-curricular commitments, and the weekly session can sit between school and dinner without a drive across the city. In each lesson the teacher works through account preparation on a shared screen, the student attempts questions, and a plain-language update follows for parents.
Book a one-hour paid trial class and the teacher will run a diagnostic and teach a live topic. You leave with a clear picture of where your student stands and what the weeks before the exam should look like. Families who prefer a school-based centre can read our Selangor guide, and the areas overview covers the rest of Malaysia.
